WHY FIX IT?
Every year, Americans throw away 16 million tons of clothing and textiles–polluting our water supply and contaminating our landfills. Sadly, almost everything we use for outdoor adventures from sleeping bags and backpacks, to jackets and tents are made from petrochemicals that take 200+ years to decompose.
Rugged Thread is solving an over pollution crisis in the outdoor industry by helping manufacturers, retailers, and individuals keep thousands of pounds of textiles out of the landfill. We are rethinking the life-cycle of our clothing and gear and challenging the norm of throwing stuff “away”. By choosing to fix our stuff rather than buy new, each of us makes a significant difference: simply extending the life of a garment by 90 days reduces its environmental impact by 30%. Thanks to people like you, we have prevented more than 30,000 pounds from ending up in the landfill.
Not only are we solving an environmental issue, but we are creating living-wage jobs and contributing to the well-being of our communities. We ensure that our sewing technicians receive a living wage, benefits, and paid time off.
We are currently closed to local walk-ins in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19. Please mail in all repairs using our online quoting form.
